What is the total cost to build a GTM? Standard kits from GTM are complete with the exception only of the engine, ECU, engine harness, driveshafts, exhaust, seats, wheels and tyres. You can purchase all of these parts from us (comprehensive kit). What donor vehicle parts will I need? None for a comprehensive kit. For a standard kit the engine, ECU, engine harness, driveshafts, exhaust, seats, wheels and tyres. Can this kit be updated at a later date to separate instruments and special seats? Instruments are now included in the kit. All parts can be updated at any stage to suit your needs, simply ask and we can give you specific prices and support. How do these prices compare with other kits that appear cheaper? The GTM kit appears expensive because it is totally complete. If you add up the cost of the total bits required to build the other kits they will be similar to the Libra and in many cases much more. Remember the Libra comes with trimmed components and in a painted finish. Will help be available during the build? There is a comprehensive assembly guide and help is always available at the factory during working hours. The owners club have a technical help line for builders outside normal working hours. What happens if my circumstances change? We are always in the process of building complete cars for customers at the factory and would be happy to finish the car for you. You can visit the factory at any stage to see cars being built by our technicians. What is S.V.A? Single Vehicle Approval is like a deluxe MOT, which all specialist cars have to undergo and pass. There are test centres located all over the British Isles for this purpose. Will I have any problems passing S.V.A.? GTMs are designed from the outset to pass S.V.A. All our cars and customers cars have passed S.V.A. without any problems whatsoever. What engine options are available ? GTMs take any 4 cylinder 'K' series Rover engine from the standard 1.1 litre to the 1.8 litre V.V.C. In addition to these units there is also a kit for the 2.5 litre Rover 'KV6' engine (Libra only) and the Honda 4 cylinder VTEC engine. If I build my car with a 1.1 litre engine can I change to a larger unit later? All the 4 cylinder engines are totally interchangeable at any stage. The 2.5 litre V6 engine (available for the Libra only) will only fit in the V6 kit as the monocoque has been modified to accept the larger engine. 4 cylinder engines will also fit in the V6 kit if required. Will I be able to use my GTM everyday in terms of creature comforts and reliability? Yes, GTMs have all the creature comforts one expects from a modern car and can be used everyday without compromise. The mechanical components are all working well within their original design specifications and therefore the reliability is equal to any modern car. Are GTMs easy to insure? GTM have an excellent reputation with specialist insurers. Generally insurers base their rates on engine capacity and therefore the GTM Libra tends to work out relatively cheap to insure. Typical fully comprehensive insurance for a 1400 cc Libra with unlimited mileage for a 25 year old with full no claims bonus will be around £380. Please see the links page for specialist insurers. Can I have a test drive? We will be happy to take customers for a demonstration drive but due to the very high performance of the car we will only let customers drive the demonstrator under our supervision and if they are on the point of ordering. What is the situation with regard to registration once the car has been built? 1) If the car is made using all new components or all new components but containing one major item rebuilt as new (i.e. the engine), then it will receive a current new registration. |
